“Between Friends”
Dwight E. Patillo, born and raised in Detroit, Michigan found a love for film at an early age. Writing stories for performance in grade school, and working in animation in high school, Dwight focused on theatre in college, studying, teaching, acting and writing, until the Minnesota winters wore thin, and opportunity knocked. Dwight then moved to Los Angeles, California to help build NuVue Films, a black owned production company that produced a number of noted West Coast rap videos, including “Nuthin But A G Thang” and “Let Me Ride” both featuring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
Dwight found himself in the middle of controversy as he wrote and Co-Produced the video to “Little Ghetto Boy” from Dr. Dre’s classic “Chronic” album. Labeled too “violent” for MTV, the ANTI-violence message in the complex visuals and concept flew over the head of most decision makers within the music and distribution labels. After working on many music videos for various artists, including Second II None, Bushwick Bill, Candyman and more work for Dr. Dre and Snoop, Dwight decided to pursue film interests in various locales including the midwest. He is currently editing the feature “Hooked on Love” which he co-directed and produced in Nassau, Bahamas.
